Are you self-employed in the cultural and creative sector? Do you need support in (further) building your professional practice? Speak with an independent (financial) advisor and get answers to all your questions about financing, pensions, disability, or the choice between employment and self-employment.
For example, you might want to explore available pension options and find the one that suits you best. Or learn how to create a stable income. Another key question: How can you balance your artistic ambition with your financial goals?

What can I ask for advice about?
There are four topics you can ask for advice on:
Many self-employed people work in the cultural and creative sector. Sometimes, there is a situation of false self-employment, where an individual presents themselves as self-employed when, according to employment law, they are actually in an employment relationship.
Employment lawyer Bastiaan van Rossum can evaluate whether your assignments and agreements with clients establish an employment relationship. He provides tips on avoiding false self-employment and guidance on agreements with clients. Additionally, he can help you determine the best work arrangement for your situation—whether as an employee, a self-employed professional, or a combination of both.
The range of disability benefits for self-employed individuals is extensive. Majan van Riessen, owner of Varias Verzekeringen BV and a specialist in business and personal insurance, can provide clarity on the available options, what is and isn’t covered, the duration of coverage, and the associated monthly costs.
She can also help you select a disability benefit that aligns with both your professional practice and personal circumstances. Additionally, you can contact her with any other questions regarding disability coverage.
There are many ways to save for later. Joke Broere, pension advisor at the Nederlands Pensioen Instituut (ENG: Dutch Pension Institute), can give you insight into the types of pension provisions available, from when exactly you build up a pension and for how long, and point out the monthly costs. She can also help you choose a pension provision or create a savings plan. Additionally, you can contact her with any other questions regarding pension schemes.
A strong financial strategy is important for maintaining a sustainable professional practice. As a self-employed professional, how can you ensure a stable income? What financing options are available, and which combination works best for you? How can you balance your artistic ambitions with your financial goals? These are important questions you may face. Would you like to discuss this with an advisor who specializes in developing healthy cultural entrepreneurship? Then, Cultuur+Ondernemen will put you in touch with a suitable advisor.
*You cannot use this subsidy for practical questions. For example, if you are looking for someone to do your administration or file income tax for you, or if you have specific questions about separating private and business finances and limiting financial risks, contact a bookkeeper or accountant.
